Different Kinds of Hair Implants

27 July, 2011 | | 10 Comments

Hair implants are modern ways of restoring hair that not only looks but also feels natural. In this procedure hair follicles are transferred from a giver’s body or scalp to the bald areas.

This advanced technique is known as the Follicular Unit Transportation in which no more than four hairs or follicular units are taken. FUT has two kinds of harvesting methods.

The first method is called Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) harvesting. This procedure uses local anaesthesia and small punches to remove hair follicles. A micro blade is then used to reinsert these follicles in balding areas of the scalp. Because this involves the one by one removal of follicle, it avoids the removal of huge amounts of tissue. Also, it does not produce any scar nor does it need post-surgical stitches.

The other kind of method is known as the strip harvesting. As the term suggests, it involves the removal of strips of scalp which are then cut into tiny grafts. Afterwards, they will be implanted into the balding parts of the scalp. Parts from which strips of scalp are removed require stitching. Obviously, scars are produced through this process.

If you’re suffering from any type of baldness and thinking of ways to have your hair back you can start considering which of these two options is perfect for you. Whichever method you choose, we assure you that it can help you look much better and younger.

22 June, 2011 | | No Comment

Finasteride, the most popular and effective pharmaceutical solution for male pattern baldness, does have some side effects such as reduced sexual desire. Unlike laser treatment for hair loss, finasteride can cause some side effects and this article talks about the major adverse effects of finasteride.

One of the major side effects of finasteride is reduced sexual desire. A study shows that less than 5% of men who take this drug on a daily basis will actually suffer from this side effect, which is not too severe at all. The good thing with finasteride is that this side effect is only temporary and should fade away just as you stop taking the drug. If you are concerned about this side effect, then you might want to consider using other alternative treatments. But really, it’s quite rare that you will suffer from reduced sexual libido.

In case of any negative side effects, you should let the physician know about the condition as soon as possible. Your doctor might have some solutions that can help you deal with the negative side effects effectively.
